Hi, I'm Thumper's owner, Jamie. I'm 22 years old.
I first developed an interest in horse's when I was 2. My mum would often tell me that it all began when I first saw 2 Clydesdales at an open day at a Hospital. Ever since then my passion has grown.
I first rode a horse when I was 6. I had 6 months of lessons but then had to stop. My passion did not fade however, and 2 years later I had the opportunity to ride again. The horses I rode at this time were uneducated, and would often bolt with me on board. I decided to stop riding, but again my passion did not fade. At age 11 I moved in with a lady that owned horses and taught people to ride. Through time and patience I regained my confidence and became a reasonably capable rider. I attained various Pony Club qualifications up to C standard (non jumping). Along with learning to ride, I also learned to drive horses and worked weekends as a groom/assistant driver for a business called Colonial Carriages. I studied certificate 1 Stablehand in 2006. I started study on certificate 2 in 2007 but gave up due to year 12 course overload. I gave up riding at the age of 17 due to other commitments, but once again the passion did not go away. When I was 18 (and living on my own) I purchased my first horse (I didn't own the last horses). I called him Bailey. He was a 15.2hh Bay standardbred with the sweetest temperment you would ever find in a horse. Unfortunately he was underfed when I got him, so I spent more time fattening him up than riding him. I had to agist him at a public property as I didn't have my own land, and that resulted in me being bullied and abused for "mistreating" my horse. I ended up selling him as I couldn't bear the negativity and it really got me down. 3 years later (present day), I am now ready to own another horse. Thumper has been given to me from an old school friend. I have all the equipment I need and as soon as I find him agistment nearby, I will commence his saddle training. I am very excited about our future!
